Meet The Crew:

Josh Lane: “My parents allowed me to rent Night of the Living Dead (1990), Hellraiser, Evil Dead and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) when I was young. Seeing these films kickstarted my infatuation for cinema. My first time directing and acting in anything was for a fake commercial my friends and I shot for a high school project. Our teacher liked it so much that he allowed us to make another video on how a bill becomes a law for our government class. This was my first time editing anything. Since then, my friends and I have made many short movies. Not until 2021, We gathered back together as adults and decided that we are going to take this seriously. We formed Skeleton Crew Studios in 2022 and shortly after we made our first official short film, Collect Call in July of 2022. For this film, I was the writer, director, producer, and editor, and special effects person. It was shown at the Rocket City Film Festival in Huntsville, Alabama, where it was selected in the top three for “audience choice” among 19 short films that were shown that night. There was when I met Garren Boatright, another member of our crew. Our next big project was to make a music video for a local band called Devastate that was directed by JC Mills and Kily Payne and I was the director of photography and the special effects person. In our latest short film, Dead Tone, I was the co-editor and director of photography.”

Kily Payne: "I started working with a local A/V company back in 2007 when I was still in high school, traveling the southeast doing general roadie work and being a camera operator at large-scale events. I continued to be employed as a photographer and videographer for the following decade working for various local businesses. Recently I've found myself in front of the camera as often as I am behind it. Via my work with Skeleton Crew Productions. I enjoy all aspects of filmmaking from acting to screenwriting and I am eager to work on more productions. I've helped out on a few local productions with other crews and assisted with special effects and lighting. I have also been a background actor in a feature-length film."

Garren Boatright: "I’m an actor specializing in eccentric and disagreeable characters. As a screenwriter, I work primarily in the realms of horror and drama. A chance encounter with a local SFX artist in 2022 led to me meeting up with and becoming apart of the Skeleton Crew. I made my acting debut in the music video for Devastate’s Dimensional Disarray and am starring in our fourth coming efforts, Dead Tone. Our next effort, Collect Call, will mark my first produced screenplay."

Joan Mills: "My first foray into this business was writing and voice acting, with over a decade of experience working in podcasts and local radio dramas. Having an extensive background in the music industry has provided me with knowledge of sound engineering, live A/V mixing, and set acoustics for boom operation. Since joining the crew I have been able to combine my passions for music and movies into directing and storyboarding music videos, along with the continuance of writing and working in front of the camera."

Steven Wayne Shears: "From the odd times as a youngster to the fiercely bizarre days of being an adult, I've continually delved into the world of sketching and painting. However, there is a heavy drive in my heart specifically for the film world. Starting out as a child on the mild side, I was thrown into the eye-opening world of cinema with such films as Terminator 2 (1991), Aliens (1986), Aristocats (1970), Mary Poppins (1964), Jurassic Park (1993), The Great Muppet Caper (1981) etc. A plethora of bipolar-esque exposure of genres from one end to the other. The acting bug took the first bite and through highschool I became interested in theatre. Acting in plays was the opening of the door. Alongside that, I started delving into the dark side of films and/or what could be filmed: Cannibal Holocaust (1980), Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989), Day of the Dead (1985) etc. This also fueled my love for painting/sketching once more. The visual side of life became a prominent interest as writing also held a strong grasp on me. The acting, the art, the writings, a brand new start. The tide rolled out after turbulent times and left me with an interest in the camera as well. Living on the dark side with an openness for the sweet. The encouragement of family and friends has kept my chin up over time and I can't thank them enough for that support. I'm still kicking with an interest in it all. Acting, painting/sketching, F/X, photography, writing. Express it, because that little negative voice inside isn't worth your time."
